My specialities are relationship therapy, mind-body issues, especially eating problems of all kinds and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

We are a nutritionist (Jill Shaffer, RD) and a psychologist (me) with many years’ experience treating all kinds of eating and weight problems, including eating disorders. Seeing the terrible physical and emotional damage these conditions inflict on people of all ages shapes and populations has inspired us to develop a program to raise awareness and help prevent them. Among the many contributors to eating-disorder-related symptoms and behavior, body talk is one thing that can be changed. “ Stop BadBodyTalk . . . change the message” is a campaign to empower individuals and communities to resist dangerous, unhealthy eating-disorder thinking. Changing the message is an active process that helps develop healthy self-esteem and supports healthy eating and fitness behaviors. We offer “ Stop BadBodyTalk . . . change the message” workshops, training and materials for general, professional and clinical audiences.
