I am the senior ACNP for the Critical Care Service and Pulmonary Consult Service at the National Institutes of Health. I am also a part-time instructor at University of Maryland School of Nursing in the ACNP/CNS program. I am in my 38th year of critical care nursing and have worked in multiple institutions (teaching/community) across the country. I am in my 16th year practicing as an ACNP and also practiced as a Critical Care CNS for ~ 12 years. I completed a 3 year term on the national Board of Directors of AACN and continue to work on advance practice issues for the organization. My areas of interest include infectious disease and hematologic topics. I also have expertise in reimbursement issues, have published on the topic and am currently the coeditor of Coding and Billing for Critical Care: A Practice Tool 6th edition. I have spoken regionally, nationally and internationally and have published in various journals and books.
