 Strategized, differentiated, and wrote for the dean of the Medical School’s different voices—dean, vice president of Clinical Affairs, Campus Public Health Officer (audience of 50K+), researcher, and clinician—through multiple channels like LinkedIn, internal messages, letters, speeches, videos, and quotes for use by the University of Minnesota Foundation and the press. Co-led six-person Medical School Marketing and Communications management team and supervised seven staff members across two campuses. Co-produced the successful “Where Discovery Creates Hope” multi-media sponsored campaign with the Star Tribune. The primary goal was improving the Medical School’s reputation with Minnesotans by featuring the compassion and expertise of faculty physicians. KPIs: Annual pageviews increased by >100% in 4 years. Video views increased by >300% in 4 years. Revamped leadership communication strategy to eliminate content duplication and improve open rates (e.g., Dean’s Messages went from an average of 48% to 55%). Designed and led plan to transform relationship with 27 departments and multiple centers/institutes by changing power dynamic, introducing standard, shared procedures, and creating a cooperative environment to ensure alignment across all Medical School communications. Reintroduced Annual Report in 2019, adapted to entirely web-based report beginning in 2020.

 Researched, strategized, and wrote all leadership communications. Managed competing priorities to ensure flawless preparation of dean for meetings and events. Created talking points and slides for presentations to donors, faculty, students, and other leaders.

 Developed brand identity and strategy to increase awareness for the Stem Cell Institute, including creating and redesigning website, and developing standardized slide and letterhead templates, recruiting materials, and leadership reports. Recruited legislative support for Regenerative Medicine Minnesota and managed all aspects of this $4.5 million state-funded competitive research grant program. Hired and worked with the same contractor for four years to design and build non-University website and manage marketing needs. Created and curated all web content, marketing emails, and social media. Coordinated with Minnesota Medical Foundation (now UMF) to recruit new donors and to research and create communications from “pitches” to progress reports for existing donors.

Handled all aspects of faculty support including: correspondence, expense reporting, manuscript submission, grant proposals, grant reports, travel arrangements, expense reporting, MTARF creation, and promotion and tenure process.
