Neighbor to Neighbor Literacy Project was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that donates and installs neighborhood book sharing stations ('Little Free Libraries')to expand access to books across Chicago, especially in underserved communities. We believe that book access is an essential need. Over the course of 5 years we donated more than 200 book sharing stations and thousands of books to neighborhoods across Chicago, building a citywide book-sharing network to help remove access barriers and make free books available right where people live. When public schools were closed due to COVID concerns, our book boxes remained open and accessible to provide books for readers of every age and ability. We believe that working together, one block at a time, we can write a truly positive story of Chicago. While I dissolved the Neighbor to Neighbor legal entity in 2023, the book boxes we donated and installed continue to Build Community, Inspire Readers, and Expand Book Access wherever they are located. I will always be grateful to the many community members, nonprofit partners, and committed volunteers who still manage these book sharing stations and continue the Neighbor to Neighbor legacy in Chicago!
