Nancy Jennings, PhD., is a Professor in the School of Communication, Film, and Media Studies with affiliate appointments in the Department of Journalism and Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati. She is also Director of the Children’s Education and Entertainment Research (CHEER) Lab and former chair of the Children, Adolescents, and Media Division of the International Communication Association. Jennings studies the impact of media on children and their families and public policies and practices involved with children’s media. Her research focuses on children's cognitive and social development and their use of media, with a particular focus on media characters.
