Together with my husband, Isaac Hernandez, we founded Mercury Press International (www.mercurypress.com) in 1991 to provide storytelling that inspires action to editorial, broadcast, nonprofit, commercial and private clients. We've published and screened in over 20 countries. I serve as producer, editor, publicist and writer. He's filmmaker, director, photographer, videographer, journalist, and designer, depending on the project. We have an incredible team of talented service providers that we collaborate with. Our feature documentary "Better Together" premiered at the 2019 SB International Film Festival and was selected by the Bozeman International Film Festival as a finalist to the Ted Turner Award for the film that best encourages environmental stewardship. It was a finalist for the Best Special Issue Documentary at the LA Femme Film Festival, and screens as the environmental centerpiece documentary for the Santa Barbara Surf Film Festival. It won the Santiago Independent Film Award (August 2019), and the CineX Best Documentary Award (September 2019). Editorial clients for photography and stories have included El Mundo (Spain), National Geographic Books, USA Today, National Geographic Traveler, and The Wall Street Journal. Our work has been published in over a dozen languages. We've produced around ten books, including most recently Marc McGinnes' memoir, "In Love with Earth: Testimonies and Heartsongs of an Environmental Elder" (Community Environmental Council, 2019), and "The Art of Symeon Shimin" (Mercury Press International, 2019), as well as over 30 short films for nonprofits, commercial and private clients. Mercury Press has curated several photo exhibits at Santa Barbara Earth Day, including for the 50th Anniversary of the SB Oil Spill (2019), with an exhibit catalog co-produced with Community Environmental Council. Our photo profile series, The EcoHeroes Project, appeared at the 40th Anniversary SB Earth Day celebration with over 80,000 visitors. I grew up on a sailboat in LA Harbor. My mother, adept at celestial navigation, began studying astrology in 1969 and was syndicated by Tribune Media Services in 1992, with a daily horoscopes column that served over 80 newspapers and outlets for over 20 years. She was a master, and taught me. I've been writing Linda Black Horoscopes since 2009, syndicated by Chicago Tribune, honored to continue her legacy, and proud to currently serve tens of millions of readers daily.
