My role was to support, actively listen to, and promote empowerment as many felt trapped in difficult or dangerous relationships. My role was to support, actively listen to, and promote empowerment as many felt trapped in difficult or dangerous relationships. Like all project management this position required great attention to detail and organisational skills but working with these women additionally demanded emotional intelligence and an understanding of professional boundaries. Language barriers posed a challenge which I overcame with perseverance and patience.This placement also enabled me to make several home visits to children with disabilities to strategise accessible solutions to improve their quality of life, with consideration to the lands undulated terrain and limited financial resources. During my stay I was invited to conduct a Sociology lecture for the training nurses at the Catholic University of Cameroon (CATUC). Show less

I managed the development of a community library in Ghana. I directed this project from start to finish in three months which required organising local tradesmen, allocating volunteers’ skills and working to a tight time-frame whilst fundraising to attain a realistic budget. Witnessing the opening of the library is one of my proudest achievements to date. Today, the colourfully decorated and well-stocked library stands as a cornerstone of the local community.
