I am a designated paralegal with Clark Wilson, BC’s law firm for business. I work in strata property law. As one of only 2 designated paralegal at Clark Wilson, I work directly with clients to provide specialized and economical legal advice and representation in particular circumstances. I am also a commissioner for taking oaths, as appointed by the Attorney General for British Columbia. This translates into many cost-effective benefits for our clients, as I am able to meet with people, collect evidence, draft court and evidentiary documents, take oaths and give legal advice in the name of a supervising designated lawyer, but at the rate of a paralegal. I have 22 years of experience working in strata property law and 30 years of experience sitting on a strata council for my own place of residence, so I thoroughly understand strata needs. I have a lot of client contact, and my primary function is to help strata corporations through everything from collection work to drafting bylaws to negotiating with financial institutions. Clark Wilson also provides a legal expense retainer program for ~4000 strata corporations, so that they get a certain amount of email/telephone time for a flat rate. This is a unique program making us a premier firm for strata corporations and property management firms. I work closely with clients to determine practical solutions that achieve strata strategies through efficient legal means. This includes developing proactive approaches to and protecting the clients’ interests in all strata-related matters, including foreclosures, collections, accounts receivable, debt, liens, lien notices, parking, pets, garbage and noise issues. I have had the opportunity to teach Civil Procedure with the Paralegal Program at Vancouver Community College from 2004-2006. I was also an instructor and editor for the Law Courts Centre from 2000-2010. In addition to my paralegal work, I also enjoy spending time with family, cooking and travelling.
