No matter where I've been in my career, I've always been a writer. I've written copy to sell pots and pans, shoes and bras, and children's clothes. Exciting? No, but it was loads of fun. And set me on a path filled with artists, designers, marketing strategists, and production managers.From there, I morphed into PR and advertising. As an account executive, a senior vice president, and eventually, a business owner. With a few rogue roles in between.No matter the role, I've always been a writer. And why your work matters.SUCCESS SNAPSHOT:-Produced a digital alumni newsletter, reducing production time by 80% and increasing the open rate by 50% over peer and similar digital publications.-Wrote a donor profile for a university’s alumni magazine, subsequently appearing on the university’s news website, reaching more than 20,000 employees, 205,000 alumni and nearly 30,000 students. Less than 5% of all donor profiles appeared on the news website.-Wrote the creative brief and secured funding for a student recruitment video valued at $5,000. The school now has a professionally produced recruitment video for its website, email distribution, and social media posting. Parts of the production are also being used at sister schools for further cost savings.-Co-created a training aid "toolkit" designed to help seniors retain independence, giving the state agency, for the first time, the potential to reach at least 75% of the state’s population over 55. -As a spokesperson for a trademark program, appeared on-camera and on-air in all major media markets covering more than 60% of the Virginia's television and radio stations. Wrote all media materials.-Created a case statement format for a university capital campaign. It was used in the most successful fundraising campaign in the university’s history.
