About Naor Elimelech

I write and direct documentary films and TV series. I have always been enchanted by the poetry of everyday life, the magic of the idiosyncratic, and of real-life heroes. I studied Sociology and Visual Anthropology at Goldsmiths College at the University of London. Portraying marginalized voices has since become the compass of my authorial and commercial work.My first short film about the largest occupation in Latin America, won the Face of Exclusion competition (2008). I had the honor to be one of the DOPs in the award-winning Soka Afrika (2010), a feature-length documentary about the illegal trafficking of football players between Europe and Africa, featured on Al-Jazeera's Witness program (winner: Jury Prize for Best Film / Kicking and Screening Festival, New York 2011; Best Picture / Palermo International Sport Film Festival).Since 2012 I have been developing content for TV, brands and NGOs. I have co-written and co-directed a feature length film about suicide amongst youth in HBO's "Other Times: Youth" series. I also directed several episodes in the impactful series "Kings of the Streets" (TV Cultura); "BR3 Migrante Love" (TV Brasil); and "Breaking the Taboo" (GNT) that won silver at the New York Festival TV & Film Awards 2020 and award for best documentary series by the Academia Brasileira de Cinema 2020.I directed a Young & Rubicam campaign for the Teto organisation that won the Golden Bell Award. Alongside similar documentary films for brands such as Google, Discovery Channel, Petrobras, and Itau, on a variety of social issues such as depression, domestic violence, climate change and education.I have worked with production companies such as Prodigo Films, Spray Films, Grifa Filmes, Santa Transmedia, Bando Studio, Canal Azul and Miração Filmes. {image 2}I am currently in post-production phase of a TV series about climate change in the Patagonia region in Chile as seen through the eyes of three kayak adventurers; a TV feature documentary about the afro-descendent Umbanda religion in Brasil; and in pre-production fase of a 13 episode TV series about Peace and Non-violence culture in Brasil. contact: naor@naorelimelech.com

FORUM SUAPE | The implementation of the Industrial and Port Complex of Suape was geared towards leveraging the region's economic growth. Sadly, its expansion violently drove local populations such as slave descendants and fishermen communities out of their lands. These rightful owners are seeing their homes being destroyed, leaving them homeless or precariously resettled around the complex. The environment has also been suffering from this predatory occupation. Mangroves, rainforests and sandbanks have given rise to the construction of large enterprises. Maintaining the social patterns since the colonial period, the constituted powers (executive, legislative and judicial) turn a blind eye to these human rights violations.
