With a team of two others, recognized the link between girls’ self-respect and a susceptibility to both bullying and being bullied. Developed and produced Girls’ Respect Groups, a program which works to build and maintain self-esteem and self-respect in girls during the vulnerable years of middle school. Girls’ Respect Groups is unique in the fact that it is led by teen girls, helping middle school girls. The program expanded rapidly and resulted in training young leaders, a training program, and eventually a book that is a summation of these programs. Girls’ Respect Groups can be picked up in either the United States or Canada, and be used to implement a group in any community in which young girls interact. Assisted in producing and writing a screenplay and short film promoting Girls’ Respect Groups, coordinating cast, cameramen, and editors in the film production process during Summer 2009. Was featured on TVO Parents as a bullying expert, discussing bullying and Girls’ Respect Groups in April 2008. Received the Louise Russo Leadership Grant for extraordinary work on anti-violence in the Toronto community, summer 2007.
