I once won a math t-shirt for getting 100% on a calculus test. 800 students were taking the class at the time, and only 2 earned perfect scores and the coveted t-shirts. The shirt reads, "Rise to the Equation." I have since taken this motto to heart. How can I rise to the equation in my life? How can I achieve excellence in all that I do? Since the age of 12, I have helped my older brothers with their window washing business as they've earned money for college. Washing windows may sound like a menial job (trust me, it is!), so many homeowners will gladly pay someone else to do it on their behalf. Since the summer of 2012, I have taken over this business as the only Wolford in college and have learned that there is a lot more to a washing window business than just washing windows. Through my efforts, I have been able to expand my clientele from only one neighborhood in Draper to include many neighborhoods in Riverton. I have recently spent my time in a more glamorous job while interning with Illume Gowns, an up-and-coming wedding dress company. After much trial and error with other department stores, my greatest accomplishment was forming a retail partnership with Dillard's. This collaboration has allowed us the use of their merchandise, specifically shoes and high-class jewelry, for our fashion show.As an economics major, I find it easy to rise to the equation daily considering I basically do math homework all day. I love applying calculus and statistics to understand how the economy works. I am especially interested in understanding what incentivizes people to do things, and even more interested in how I can incentivize people to do the things that I want them to do. I anticipate many more "free math t-shirts" in my future as I continually strive to succeed. Every experience, even the most mundane, is an opportunity to improve, achieve, and Rise to the Equation.
