We work with artists and local communities to deliver new commissions in the public realm, support young people's creative talents and contribute to the social and cultural infrastructure of Felixstowe, Suffolk.We believe contemporary art to be vital to the wellbeing, development and sustainability of individuals, communities and cultures. Our work explicitly foregrounds connections between art and health in all forms and registers: individual, social and environmental. A coastal town and home to the UK's busiest container port, Felixstowe offers a critical context for programming that explores identity, borders and wellbeing.We deliver our programme beyond the gallery and through a borrowed infrastructure model allowing us to prioritise collaboration and audience development, whilst remaining organisationally nimble with a low carbon footprint. Pier Projects was founded and is led by curator Natalie Pace and arts educator Louise Stratford. We came together through shared interests in endurance swimming and running which informs our non-dualistic approaches to art and health.
