Published human geographer, committed to evidencing the voices of those living at the margins of society and instigating social action, evident in a career that has taken me across the world in various policy, research and teaching roles. I have postdoctoral research and teaching expertise in critical social theory, care ethics, everyday geographies and environmental sustainability, with lecturing experience at the University of Manchester. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I mentored for WEDU Global, helping young women in Asia tackle issues of gender discrimination and sexual harassment within their local communities.I am highly adapted to cultural differences, having lived and worked in different countries including the USA, Zambia, New Zealand and two years teaching in a high school in Japan. My capacity to build networks and sustain positive working relationships has led to influencing decisions at national and international government level. I have fed research findings into government evidence bases through rapid research pieces, academic journal and book publications, magazine articles and government reports. My most recent publications focus on care ethics within research and policy making to produce different forms of knowledge valuable for the advancement of sustainable marine management.
