When I joined RTS Labs as a Salesforce Engineer, I had zero prior experience with the Salesforce platform. I ended up learning everything I know on the job, and I continue learning to this day. Software consulting has been key to my growth as an engineer, exposing me to a wide variety of problems, strategies, and environments. I’ve worked with over 30 clients, customizing orgs with as little as 3 users to as many as 5000+. My specialty is implementing solutions on the core Salesforce platform that combine the frontend, backend, and declarative technologies that Salesforce has to offer. Outside of my work for clients, I leverage my background in communications to strengthen the entire Salesforce unit at RTS by creating resources that drive process change, mentoring junior members through 1-on-1 sessions, and acting as a thought leader amongst the team.My duties include:-Designing and implementing complex solutions on the Salesforce platform-Combining front-end, back-end, and declarative technologies available on the Salesforce platform -Integrating Salesforce with third-party systems and external APIs-Collaborating with clients to understand their business needs and translating them into effective Salesforce solutions-Managing production releases using SFDX, change sets, and third-party tools-Utilizing best practices for coding and continuously optimizing code for performance and scalability-Conducting code reviews to maintain code quality and adhere to established standards-Working in an Agile environment to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions-Creating technical documentation to aid knowledge transfer and future maintenance-Providing user training and support to ensure successful adoption of implemented solutions-Assisting with business development by acting as subject matter expert during pre-sales calls, building POCs, and providing project estimates

By working in an actual professional environment instead of completing abstract projects, my internship at SIDEARM Sports allowed me to grow as a front end web developer in a way that the classroom could not. I was able to refine the skills that I learned in the classroom by having constant practice and taking advice from more experienced coworkers. I began my term as Web Director by inheriting a neglected website that was using a generic template. Over the course of my term I designed and coded a brand new custom Wordpress theme from scratch. This role allowed to flex my design skills, as I was in charge of creating new graphics for the station’s website.
