During and immediately after earning my BS in Applied Mathematics, I worked in healthcare software development--primarily writing SQL procedures and reports integrated with applications developed in Visual Basic.When I learned about how I could use my math degree to help my community, I joined the Kansas City Teaching Fellows and began teaching high school mathematics. I earned a MA in Education and continued teaching high school when I moved to Portland. In both of these schools, I became involved in numerous school or district wide teams with various leadership roles. While teaching at Portland Community College, I earned my MS in Mathematics. While at PCC, I collaborated on research and grant funded projects including a Data Science education initiative with Portland State University. It was through this experience that I realized why I loved coding and working with data.
