To lead the Trusts application for Foundation Trust status utilising a project management approach to deliver key development areas including -:- Lead for development of a 5 year integrated business plan, engaging stakeholders in order to involve them in future plans- Lead a review of governance at Board level and across the Trust and establish integrated governance and systems for risk and performance management- To prepare and deliver board level papers relating to the Trusts application- Develop comprehensive management development program for over 80 of the most senior clinicians and managers- Lead public consultations and stakeholder events involving staff, service users, carers, partner organisations and the public.- Liaison with Monitor (FT regulator) and establishment of good relationships

To take corporate responsibility for and take the lead on the development of mental health services in wirral and be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a co-ordinated set of initiatives targeted at modernising mental health services.This included developing practical alternatives to hospital admission, enhanced community based services and a redesign of services based on patient pathways. This required strong partnership working with clinical directors, GPs and Social Service colleagues ensuring the local health and social care agenda for mental health services was strongly aligned.I also had following responisbilities-:- Strategic lead for older peoples mental health services across the Trust in Wirral and Cheshire- Management of resources - 500+ staff, budget of £15m, management of capital assets including more than 10 sites where services were provided from- Ensure strong governance, training and audit in place to evidence safe, effective care and services- Partnership working with staff, service users, carers, other statutory agencies, primary care and not for profit organisations- Joint lead with Primary Care Trust for Wirral integrated workforce plan as 1 of 8 national pilot sites

New role following establishment of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust.- Set up of business planning and performance review processes across the new clinical directorates- Implement a planned withdrawal form failing informatics agency arrangements and creation of Trust internal Informatics department.- Lead the withdrawal form outsourced public relations support to develop internal communications team.- Lead the development of a new corporate identity for the Trust- Development of service level agreements with host acute Trusts in conjunction Director of Finance.

A key element of my role was associated with managing change linked to the dissolution of Wirral and West Cheshire Community NHS Trust and the establishment of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Trust form 1st April 2002.- Ensuring effective communication systems were in place to brief staff on implications and supporting the chief executive in their role.- Development of an effective system to manage risk associated with the merger with particular emphasis on continuity of services- Set up of new business planning and performance management / improvement systems- Management of Trust records including Health records and claims- Lead for Trust Volunteers- Lead for successful bid to Dept of health to source capital funds of £2.1m for the re-design of Ellesmere hospital.

Management of a new team following the merger of Wirral Community Trust with West Cheshire Community Trust.-Provision of a data collection and information analysis service to clinical and corporate directorates in the Trust.-Lead for negotiations with commissioners regarding activity plans and to facilitate discussions between commissioners and services regarding expansion to existing services or new agreements.-Represent the Trust on Wirral local implementation board for information for health-Joint management of the community and primary care project.

Prior to the merger with the John Radcliffe NHS Trust in 1998 the Radcliffe Infirmary was an acute hospital trust and regional specialist centre for Neurosciences and Craniofacial surgery.I successfully developed a new team whose responsibilities included-:- Submission of contract information to purchasers and statutory returns to the NHS Executive and Dept of Health- Provision of an information analysis service to Trust management, administrative and clinical staff- Operational management of Trust contracting system, for which I was also chair of regional user group which comprised of 14 Trusts.
