It was love at first "Hello World"...I always thought it was my dream to work in the medical field. Given my interest in my high school science classes and my desire to help others in my future line of work, I naturally opted to major in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology at UCLA. I was on track to become a healthcare professional and felt excited at the prospect of having so many different careers from which to choose.However, that long list quickly transformed my mindset from excitement to uncertainty as I began to realize that I wasn't passionate enough about any particular medical career to be confident that it was the "right choice" for me. Suddenly it became very daunting to proceed forward in any direction, and I found myself essentially stuck back at square one.While I was considering a change in major, I ended up enrolling in an introductory programming class – and immediately got hooked. It was the perfect blend of creativity and problem solving, and it provided both the challenge and the satisfaction of working on a complex puzzle. I would eagerly spend hours on my coding homework, determined to finish before I went to sleep. That's when I realized that this was something I was truly passionate about.I ended up completing my undergraduate education under my molecular biology major and decided to pursue a new path in web development after I graduated. Instead of going back to school or attending a bootcamp, I tackled the transition through self-study, using my newfound fascination to propel me forward in my journey to learn both front-end and back-end programming. So far, I've acquired a toolkit that includes HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Express, Django, MongoDB, Bootstrap, Material UI, Vue, and TypeScript. However, as a self-taught developer, I still consider myself a student and am constantly looking for new technologies or frameworks that I can add to my skillset!
