Since we began in 2000, we have responded to earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, landslides, typhoons and conflict, delivering emergency humanitarian aid to communities in need. Miss Macaroon’s MacsMAD (Macaroons that Make A Difference) training courses enable long-term unemployed young people to build their confidence and skills to become work ready.We train small groups of individuals aged 18 to 35 and tailor each eight week course to address their personal barriers to employment. We understand how to be successful in a workplace and use Miss Macaroon’s production kitchen or macaroon and prosecco bar to practice these skills.To inspire and motivate the trainees, they hear from peer mentors who are MacsMAD graduates with jobs. A local luxury hotel partner hosts the trainees for a tour and introduction to the Head Chef, building their aspirations and network.One to one mentoring provides support throughout the course, during follow on work experience and into employment for up to six months. MacsMAD trainees leave the course with their five year plan, up to date CV, extensive interview practice, industry contacts and help to apply for jobs
