- Manage buyers while working with customers, vendors, Transportation, Ops Planning, Account Team, Demand Planning, and warehouse facilities to effectively manage service levels while achieving budgeted turn inventory levels.- Train, coach, mentor, and provide clear expectations to Associate Buyers, Buyers, Senior Buyers, and Buyers’ Assistants in the daily procurement routine while providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.- Negotiate with vendors and customers to manage flow of inventory while balancing customer service level requirements, including, developing and implementing action plans on excessive and impaired inventories.- Ensure current and future challenges are proactively analyzed and communicated to internal and external customers. Define and propose solutions and implement corrective actions. As recurring issues are identified, develop and implement sustainable solutions. - Analyze reporting and partner with transportation, Ops Planning, and the facilities on daily/weekly capacities and initiate change to allow other operating areas within to meet weekly P&L commitments.- Participate or lead special projects as assigned (e.g. new customer startups, realignment, SOP development).- Leverage available systems to continually improve data utilization and decision-making capabilities. - Manage a buying team to attained target service levels and budgeted inventory levels.- Manage a salvage financial budget, leads efforts with buyers, vendors, and customers to minimize expenses.- Support the inventory transfer process and budget through vendor negotiations amongst the teams- Responsible for majority of the aspects of people management: interviewing, training, recognition, and counseling.
