Environmental Geophysics Doctoral StudentUniversity Of Wisconsin-Madison Aug 2018 - Aug 2022Madison, WiInvestigating earth-surface processes in cold-regions using field geophysics, laboratory experimentation, and data data science tools. Particular focus on glacier sliding and bluff failure processes. -
Seismology Ms StudentCornell University Jun 2016 - Aug 2018 -
Temporary Service TechnicianCornell University Jan 2016 - May 2016Ithaca, New York AreaProvided field and analytic support for research on the role of fluid (and pressure) migration in the Earth's crust and how that affects crustal deformation and continental evolution.Lead field teams in siting and construction of the Cornell FLTS dense seismic array in Northern Oklahoma to capture unique records of induced earthquakes in the region. Negotiated seismic station permits with local land-owners and maintained positive professional relationships during and following station installation.Conducted periodic servicing of the FLTS array to ensure site integrity and retrieve instrument records.Created and maintained seismic data catalogs using the Antelope software suite in collaboration with Cornell and PASSCAL employees. -
Glaciology Masters StudentPenn State Ice And Climate Exploration Group Aug 2013 - Dec 2015University Park, PaResearched on ice-sheet/solid-earth interactions with a specific focus on modeling crustal stresses from cyclic ice-sheet loading and assessing their implications for anomalous volcanism. Results published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface.Publications:Stevens, N. T., Parizek, B. R., & Alley, R. B. (2016). Enhancement of volcanism and geothermal heat flux by ice-age cycling: A stress modeling study of Greenland. J. Geophys. Res. Undergraduate Research AssistantPenn State University Nov 2010 - Jul 2013University Park, Pennsylvania, United StatesAssisted research on the physical properties of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) Divide Deep Ice Core. Specific focus on the influence of impurity influence on crystal size in glacier ice. Additional studies include interactions between crystal boundary migration and bubble locations. -
Earth Science InternChevron Jun 2015 - Sep 2015Greater Pittsburgh AreaDeveloped and encoded a sequence stratigraphic framework for the Appalachian Basin Upper Devonian and Mississippian strata in Southwestern Pennsylvania and West Virginia. This framework was made available for the business unit to aid in well planning and geo-hazard avoidance. This project incorporated well-log and seismic data (2-D and 3-D) to identify, characterize, and quality control key stratigraphic horizons critical to well-planning. Data-set quality control was conducted through rigorous comparison of well-log response across the basin, seismic data analysis (phase & frequency content, tuning thickness studies, synthetic well-ties, etc.), and geologic data (drill cuttings, outcrop descriptions, and drillers' records). Analyses were conducted in the Petrel E&P Software Suite. -
Earth Science InternChevron May 2014 - Aug 2014Greater Pittsburgh AreaImplemented Chevron ETC software and workflows for quality control of contractor's microseismic monitoring results from a recent completion.Applied advanced microseismic processing workflows to contractor data.Enhanced accessibility and utility of Chevron proprietary microseismic network modeling. -
Hydrologic AidU.S. Geological Survey (Usgs) Jun 2010 - Aug 2010Assisted Hydrologic Technicians in their duties, specifically gathering data from and maintaining the surface water monitoring network Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
