I'm driven by a passion for fusing science with effective communication. I graduated from Drake University in Iowa with degrees in multimedia journalism and biochemistry, cell, and molecular biology. I knew I didn't see myself in a career in research or medicine, but I wanted to be close to both. Through articles, visuals, and social media, I strive to make complex topics in health and science accessible to all.As Editorial & Production Coordinator at the American Academy of Ophthalmology in San Francisco, California, I'm responsible for ensuring the Academy's guidelines for treating patients are clear, accurate, and updated regularly by leading ophthalmologists around the world.I previously spent two summers in Science Communications and in Research Communications at Genentech, the world's first biotech company. I promoted the world-class science and scientists in the Research and Development organization through social media, newsletters, and podcasts. Prior to that, I worked in Research and Development Communications at Corteva Agriscience, where I crafted human-centered stories about Corteva's innovative and sustainable products.In college, I served as Editor-in-Chief of Drake Mag, which was recognized nationally as Best Feature Magazine by the College Media Association. I had the privilege of leading the team that produced top-tier work to engage our diverse readership. Guiding our student-run publication was an invaluable experience which reinforced the importance of clarity and empathy in storytelling.I'm grateful for the opportunity to connect. I look forward to exploring ways where my blend of scientific curiosity, communication skills, and a track record of award-winning work can contribute deeper understanding and appreciation of science in everyday life.
