To me, being an effective leader requires a heart for people, bias for action, and vision through change. In more than a decade of professional services, I’ve come to learn that what makes the biggest difference in executing a project, growing a brand, or developing teams is consistently showing up, facilitating a clear plan of action, and always being ready to roll up your sleeves. This is how I choose to approach my work. I hold a high standard for the quality of work that I produce and stay accountable to the work of others too. That’s what it means to be part of a team. In most sports, games are not won or lost by a single player; the outcome is determined by the collective effort and performance of each contributor pursuing the same result. Recognizing the gifts and strengths in others brings out their best and makes complex problems seem a little less daunting. It’s increasingly difficult to disrupt the momentum when everyone is rowing in the same direction.
