As the Deputy Chief of Police, my primary responsibility is overseeing the Department's Patrol and Training divisions. An additional duty of mine is to serve as the installation's traffic enforcement subject matter expert.

As a Police Officer at Military Ocean Terminal Concord, my primary duty was to conduct patrols to detect illegal activity and respond to calls for service. I was also responsible for completing law enforcement reports relating to criminal activity occurring within the installation’s jurisdiction. I was required to maintain a semiannual qualification on pistol, shotgun, and rifle. I responded to and investigated traffic collisions, coordinated responses from local agencies as required. My primary duty was physical security. I was tasked with operating Access Control Points to ensure that only vetted and permitted individuals enter the installation. This required professionalism and tact when interacting with assigned personnel, as well as members of the public.Within the installation's Visitor Control Center, I was tasked with vetting visitors and contractors and issuing access passes based on standard operating procedure and installation policies. As a Field Operations Captain, my number one mission was to conduct inspections of Security Officers at various posts throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. This involved conducting regular visits to sites and ensuring that all the assigned Officers are present and in compliance with company dress code, and in compliance with California State regulations for Security Officers. As required, notices were sent to management/direct supervisors when there were any violations. I also worked to resolve Officer issues, questions, and concerns as best as possible before referring them to the proper manager when needed.A secondary mission as a Field Operations Captain was to conduct armed escorts of ATM technicians while they performed service calls in high crime/high risk areas. My final assignment with Universal Protection Service was at the iconic Transamerica Pyramid located in downtown San Francisco. My primary duties were to provide access control to the building as well as to detect and deter suspicious activity within the area. The Pyramid is a unique feature, instantly recognizable on the SF skyline and therefore a prime target for terrorist and criminal activity.I became familiar with utilizing Software House's C-Cure 9000, an access control software suite; Workspeed, a visitor control system; general fire/life safety procedures and general high rise building security procedures. As with any security position this assignment required great interpersonal communication skill and professionalism.I also received training as a Security Operations Center Officer for this site. As a SOC Officer, I was the first line of contact for the department. I monitored over 100 cameras for suspicious or illegal activity. I also monitored the Life Safety System and other alarm systems and responded according to standard operating procedure when alarms sounded. I also maintained the Daily Activity Report for the shift of up to 15 Security Professionals. I received and processed all security related service requests which included creating access profiles in C-Cure 9000, setting up special events, coordinating the access for contractors and vendors into the building, scheduling security staff for events, and other miscellaneous requests. I also dispatched security and engineering staff as required for a variety of incidents.

My service as a Military Policeman was split into several different experiences. I first attended Army Basic Combat Training, and Military Police school. After graduating I served 4 months as a Correctional Officer in a medium security facility. Duties there included maintaining order and accountability among the inmates, supervising daily tasks, conducting searches of persons and areas for weapons and contraband, and checking in visitors and vendors.I then spent several months performing law enforcement duties on my assigned installation. This training included vehicle specific training, medical training, and firearms ranges.
