Teaching STEM to students 1st-5th grade

I currently work as a cast member with some truly wonderful and talented people. This company produces audiobooks and I'm currently working on one of their podcasts, Restless Shores, as Uriah Roupp, a recent college graduate who (spoiler alert) gets blackmailed into working for his grandfather's pharmaceutical company. Working and communication with the other cast members is a diverse experience because there are people of all ages involved and all from different backgrounds.

At Morse High School, I've gotten to know so many kind, intelligent, talented, creative children, and of course so many more. There is something incredibly special about going to a school you've only been teaching at for a few months and having kids tell you that you're their favorite teacher, it's something truly meaningful.

As an event assistant I aid in registering attendees, sending and replying to business emails, and, in short, the organization of the event.

As a substitute teacher at Brunswick High School, I've had the opportunity to work with such a large array of students. Musicians, singers, special needs students, and mathletes are only some of the kids I've gotten to work with. Such a position is truly rewarding.

In this position I help to make online textbooks functional for online classes. For example, creating, and making available, coursework for, and in, the textbooks.

I started training in February, and by the summer time I was doing my own events. In many cases I was entirely on my own and didn't have an assistant, this taught me the importance of detail. Not having an assistant forced me to be entirely accountable for having everything I needed, in one case, the wedding I had to go to was over 100 miles away in a very rural area, so forgetting something was not an option. Attention to detail is absolutely integral in the entertainment industry, not just to how your speakers, lights, cords, etc. look when they're set up, but how much contact you have with the event coordinator (in many cases this was the bride herself). Creating and maintaining an entirely professional relationship, in addition to communicating effectively is necessary to not just succeed, but to excel. Effective communication is not necessarily lots of communication, knowing what to say, when to say it, how much to say, and of course problem solving to best accomplish your client's needs and exceed expectations.

I very much enjoy interacting with people and getting to know them personally, especially when I get to improve their days with food and/or drinks.

As Wiscasset High School Alumni, attaining this position was very important to me. I had never done any substitute teaching and I had been so involved in my school's athletics, theater, and student council up until I graduated in 2014, so it was nice to be giving back and creating the same wonderful experience I had for students of the next generation. Here I established a solid sense of community in my adult life, even still I help WMHS whenever I can.

During my summers home and some other times, Sarah's was always there for me. As predominately a prep cook I learned a lot about making desserts and preparing foods. I was a host for a time and got to experience things from the front end perspective.

As a resident assistant, I got to guide and befriend my peers while simultaneously sustaining a fun and safe environment for them to live in. Despite having to enforce a code of conduct that a lot of students didn't agree with, especially in the areas of substance use and impairment, I am confident in saying that my relationship with a great deal of those students thrived. I worked twice at Party City as a seasonal employee for Halloween. It was from the frying pan and into the fire coming directly from McDonald's because the closer it gets to October 31, the more agitated and stressed out the customers become. My first year there I was working full time as a full time student doing 10 hour shifts as Halloween neared. I learned the significance of procedures there, as everything had a protocol of some sorts, it was very organized. I'm grateful for my experience there and the wonderful managers and coworkers I had because the quality of communication and efficiency wouldn't have been possible without our teamwork.

McDonald's was my first job, and when I started I was thrown in the deep end of customer service. As a drive through worker, I was dealing with aggravated customers who thought I didn't know what I was doing. This is where I learned some of my conflict control skills and of course it helped me fine tune my communication skills.
