I have taught high school English for the past six and a half years. During this time, my responsibilities have expanded beyond the classroom to include:1) Senior Sponsor - I work to ensure all of the senior class orders their cap and gown. I am also responsible for planning and executing the graduation ceremony. 2) 21st Century Site Coordinator - I coordinate the after-school tutoring program at Bastrop High School that is funded by the 21st Century grant. I also ensure student in need of both Credit & Attendance Recovery are able to do so. 3) Mentor Teacher - I support teachers new to the campus succeed in the profession.In order to do my job, I must be able to manage adults and children. I have to analyze data to ensure I am using the best instructional strategies in the classroom. I have to plan ahead so I can ensure my students will be engaged. I also have to be willing to adapt my plans depending on how the week may change or how well my students understand the material.
