On February 25, 2018, a magnitude M7.5 earthquake struck Papua New Guinea. The epicenter of the earthquake was within the PNGLNG footprint. The event and its aftershocks, caused significant damage to PNGLNG assets, including the onshore pipeline RoW and Komo airport. The Client requested WOOD to undertake Earthquake Remediation (EQR) works at 12 High-Complexity sites and dozens of Low-Complexity sites along the 700km pipeline. In addition there is significant drainage, runway and revegetation repair scope for Komo Airport.The Environmental Lead role involves managing a small team of national Environmental Advisors to oversee a range of fast-moving and complex environmental issues associated with the EQR works. These include:- Scope planning works associated with the Komo drainage and revegetation works. Soil testing to validate with Engineering teams the best possible products and techniques to ensure successful revegetation- Development of site ESCPs for both construction and reinstatement phases of the Komo airport and ROW works- Development of various other site documentation including Construction Execution Plans / Waste Management Plans / updating CEMPs- Significant earthworks on steep slopes and unstable terrain / in and around waterways that supply fresh water for domestic uses to local villages- Procurement of site consumables for reinstatement / ESC / spill control / waste management etc- Support geotechnical drilling campaign with chemical / waste / drill cuttings management- Water quality monitoring and supply approvals- Onsite chemical / waste / ablutions management- Pre-Construction walkdowns- Implementing site environmental inspection and action tracking system to ensure compliance with the project conditions and PNG regulations- Implementing onsite training and toolbox programs on Env-awareness across the workforce

Assists the ESMS Manager by undertaking field monitoring to ensure TAP EPC Contractors undertake construction in compliance with TAPs Commitments, approved ESIA, contractual commitments, project management plans and all other applicable documentation, permits, national legislation, industry best practice and Lender (EBRD) requirements. Acting as an ESMS mentor to site construction personnel, the TAP E&S field monitors, the EPC Contractor and the general workforce. The ES Lead manages the day to day activities and provides direction for the E&S Field Monitors. The E&S Lead also establishes and maintains effective interfaces with all other functions within the TAP project management team and Country Office, in particular field based stakeholder engagement functions.

Working on the QCLNG project as a Lead Environmental Advisor on the upstream infrastructure components of the project. This includes well engineering, ponds, compression facilities and gathering & trunkline pipeline projects. My role was to represent the client ensuring EPC contractors undertake the works in compliance with Environmental Authority conditions in order to achieve best practice environmental outcomes for the project and the surrounding community.I spent my first 18 months with Unidel on a secondment to ENERGEX within their environmental team. Here I was responsible for managing environmental issues on a variety of transmission and distribution projects. This included pre-planning permits and approvals to managing onsite construction issues.
