I am an Engineer with experience in data analysis, ensuring regulatory compliance, and design with a passion for both transportation and engineering. I am currently working as an Environmental Engineering Technologist with the Kentucky Division for Air Quality's Permit Review Branch. I analyze the activities of air pollution sources to determine assess output of pollutants of concern. I review air permit applications to determine compliance with applicable state and federal air quality regulations. I also assist applicants with regulatory interpretation and technical issues related to the air permitting process.In my previous role as a Transportation Engineering Associate with AECOM, I studied and developed future transportation improvement projects. I performed project-level forecasting, traffic micro-simulation, capacity analysis, and right-of-way acquisition cost estimation to produce high quality deliverables for clients. In my work at AECOM, I programmed automated processes using Python, Visual Basic for Applications, and Caliper GISDK to automate many data-gathering and generation tasks required for conducting traffic forecasts and simulations.I garnered extensive technical and design experience in my extracurricular activities at NC State University. Working as the Avionics and Recovery Subteam Lead in the High-Powered Rocketry Club, I designed and tested an altimeter and parachute system to ensure safe and reliable landing of the launch vehicle while maintaining compliance with the rigorous safety requirements of the NASA Student Launch competition. I also served as the team's Lead Programmer and was responsible for development of a flight computer system to perform real-time analysis of ground imagery while in flight.I also am passionate about introducing young students to the field of engineering through STEM outreach. This has led me to conduct many events helping children ranging in age from elementary to high-school grasp scientific, mathematical, and engineering concepts while sparking an interest in STEM careers. Working individually with teachers has allowed me to craft presentations that demonstrate to students how the topics they are learning apply to the work engineers do even as early as elementary school, showing them that they are learning the basics of “rocket science” even in elementary school.I envision myself one day with a role leading improvement of transportation and infrastructure in the United States.
