St Ives Gold Mine

Fulfilling the day-to-day survey requirements of the Argo, Athena and Hamlet declines. This includes setout and pickup of all development, longhole stoping, exploration drilling, airways and escape-ways.Further to that I was tasked with the quarterly updating and issuing of underground emergency plans as required by mines regulations, the creation and updating of survey procedures and JHA's and the calculation and reporting of monthly development figures and calculations. All members of the mining department were also tasked with the regular inspection of surface and underground infrastructure e.g. fuel bays, magazines, escape-ways etc as required.Whilst working at St Ives Gold Mine I was also an Emergency Response volunteer, attending training and responding to emergencies as required. Cosmos Nickel Operations

Fulfilling the day-to-day survey requirements of the Cosmos and Prospero declines as well as all surface survey requirements. This included all production and development requirements as well as end-of-month and fortnightly reporting and the constant maintenance of all buried-services information. My colleagues and myself were tasked with the mentoring and development of surveying graduates and students, as well as survey assistants with no previous surveying experience.Some of larger tasks we performed included the regular water monitoring of Cosmos' seven disused open pits and the collation and transformation of historic survey data into one workable mine grid for Cosmos' proposed gold pits. As the mining operation transitioned from fully operational to care and maintenance we were also tasked with tracking the controlled flooding of all underground areas of the Propsero decline. Cosmos Nickel Operations

Starting as a Vacation Student in 2007, I was tasked with assisting the survey department both underground and on the surface. From 2008 onward I would be onsite for each end-of-month to assist with surface stockpile pickup and Vulcan processing as well as working weekends and holidays when required. From mid-2009 until my promotion to Graduate Mine Surveyor in 2010 I worked full-time at Cosmos as a Survey Assistant.
