I hold a PhD in Computational Social Science from George Mason's Computational and Data Sciences Department. I specialize in comptational economics, including machine learning, reinforcement learning/dynamic optimization, and simulation-based structural estimation techniques. I've applied these to macroeconomics (household optimization, housing markets, learning, consumption behavior), finance (leverage, liquidity, & contagion), and forecasting. I love data munging in general and wrangling messy data into usable analysis. My research seeks to connect new techniques to established frameworks of understanding (see for example my current work on interpretation of ML/AI in the same way we interpret traditional regression). I'm currently a Sr. Economist at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, having a blast working on interesting projects with a lot of very bright people. I previously worked as a Research Economist at the Office of Financial Research in the Treasury, and before that as a PhD intern at both the OFR and CFPB.
