(SmartSynch was purchased by Itron after I left)I designed, wrote, and tested automated meter reading firmware using Nut/OS, Linux, and non-OS systems. I also designed, tested, and wrote real-time hardware control firmware as well as network and serial communication software and firmware. Designed and developed a Nut/OS network device driver for 3rd party low power wireless mesh networking hardware; the driver included heuristic prediction and re-transmission of lost frames at the local link layer. Designed data storage systems for long life field installed event logging systems using techniques to limit data loss in the event of power outages and/or loss of communication with log interrogator over an extended period of time. Peer reviewed of other developers' work. Trouble shot network communication issues encountered by customers as well as our technical support and sales personnel.

I designed, wrote, and tested automated meter reading firmware using Nut/OS and non-OS systems. I also designed, tested, and wrote real-time hardware control firmware as well as network and serial communication software and firmware using digital oscilloscopes. Designed and developed a proprietary configurable TCP/IP bridge/router using Nut/OS on AVR processors to allow port forwarding (TCP and UDP), NAT (TCP, UDP, and ICMP), as well as bridge mode between multiple network interfaces. Contributed open source embedded OS bug fixes and PPP optimizations to upstream maintainers. Additionally I preformed minor modification of PCB hardware as designs changed and to preform certain tests.

Updated financial software written VB6 and SQL to correct software bugs, meet new legal requirements, or add features. Developed small applications to generate reports of and perform updates to accounts to reflect changes needed to fix improper processing due to bugs or changing legal requirements of loans. Interface with test team to correct errors in code as well as understanding of requirements.
