Hi there I'm Nathan ,a student at UKZN doing my postgrad in Information Systems and I'm a recent BSc Computer Science Graduate, I am also a GradStar Top 100 ambassador, and the co-founder and STEM Director of Tech Society UKZN, the university’s first of its kind.My introduction to the world of technology began with the First Lego League robotics competition in primary school. The competition taught me the importance of robotics and innovation, from a young age which sparked my love for tech. I also assist the digital team in my church, and have learnt most of my leadership skills in church. My motto is from my pastor and is “A product of a leader are other leaders”. I am passionate about tech and building a bridges for others to succeed. Above starting my own organisation, I am also actively involved in serving in other empowerment organisations such as in my community's Youth Centre by assisting students with applications to universities and bursaries. In December 2021, alongside my team at Enactus, we helped over 200 Matriculants from disadvantaged communities across South Africa with applying for bursaries. I am also a male ally to Women in Tech South Africa where I works alongside dynamic women in the tech space to promote gender equality in tech. I also have participated in hackathons and in 2023 was a part of the Quantify Your Future Alumni after completing the internship.In 2022,I was part of GradStar Top 100 and was recognised as Top 10 finest Graduates in South Africa. In December ,I was a part of the 2023 set of GradStar’s Top 100. GradStar is a prestigious program recognizing outstanding students and graduates for their exceptional skills and achievements. The GradStar Awards celebrate the top graduates and students across various fields, showcasing their talent, innovation, and potential in the professional world. Innovation and problem solving is what makes me tick, In 2021 I had the privilege of representing UKZN at Innovate Durban’s Youth Innovation Challenge 2021 and developed a sustainable solution. My team TaggedAI was placed 2nd in the competition. My mission in life is to fix society's problems through technology and promote STEM. I seek to serve others and make a difference in the world through empowering youth in tech.
