Systems Engineer
I primarily worked in the NOC at Layer 3 Communications, where my main tasks included 24/7 network monitoring for customers, promptly responding to any customer network outages, as well as fielding support requests, troubleshooting low-level tickets and working with senior engineers to push ticket resolution. I was also responsible for the creation and delivery of quarterly reports to customers which included network statistics such as up/down, bandwidth utilization, security events, and industry trends.I was often put on project installation teams, helping with pre-installation site surveys to determine the customer's hardware needs, preparing the project gear in the Layer 3 staging laboratory by upgrading firmware and loading configurations, and then physically installing the network gear and patching network cables.Occasionally I was used as a backup warehouse manager, receiving and shipping inventory, creating packing lists, and organizing product.
