As a Waste Water Network Technician my daily duties include assisting the Network Manager to manage a substantial operational area to achieve regulatory, Health & Safety, financial, customer and performance targets. I must ensure I provide excellent customer service at all times to ensure customers’ expectations are met. I manage a substantial operational area and ensure the Network assets are managed to optimal efficiency within agreed budgetary targets whilst meeting all Customer Service and serviceability targets. Working closely with R&M contractors on repairs including pressurised rising mains ensuring HSP123, RAMS and method statements are in place and adhered to by completing CTR D forms. I have to analyse CCTV reports and review feedback to decide necessary actions required. If a repair is not feasible due to engineering difficulties or budget then a risk will need to be raised for future investment and possibility of Planned Maintenance to prevent repeat issues. I have to have the ability to use IT applications such as SAP and Microsoft Office to ensure all data is correct and to a high standard and manage workload to the priority that’s best needed for the situation. I have to carry out extensive investigations on the sewerage network following any KPI incidents such as DG5 internal flooding and SEF serious external flooding incidents to ensure there is no repeat incidents. I take ownership of any customer complaints or enquiries to ensure the customer is provided with a satisfactory conclusion also provide full responses or regular updates to the customer. I have regular contact with external key stakeholders and have to work closely with them and ensure I provide a good appearance of DCWW. As a Network Technician I am required to take part in a Standby Rota. On Bronze Manager Standby I have to provide technical support to service providers and associated field staff. Also attend and manage any KPI incidents or issues.

As a Jet-Vac Recycler Operative the main daily duties consisted of full cleansing of sewers in the network. This jobs requires you to work well as part of a team so that the sewer is fully clear of any debris and ready for a CCTV survey to be completed to prevent further issues on the network that is caused by debris that shouldn’t be there. The jobs that we were required to do always had a timescale so it was crucial that all work issued is completed in the timescale required. Sometimes we would have to reactively clear blockages on the network that are unable to be cleared by jet van. When the vehicle is off the road for repairs or service we were required to operate a jet van and attend reactive jobs, complete look-see CCTV, mark up defects using CAT and sond for repair, redlining, reporting near misses, lone working, single man jetting. Also as a jetting operative we have to attend internal DG5 floods, pollutions. Good customer communication skills and team work are required for this role to manage customers’ expectations at all times.

As a member of Her Majesty’s British Armed Forces I was a fully trained competent soldier and Vehicle Mechanic serving with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). My daily duties were to assist the workshop Staff Sergeant and maintain the full serviceability of all the regiment’s vehicles. Vehicles varied from small light wheeled vehicles to artic fuel tankers which fuelled the regiment’s Apache Helicopters also including light tracked vehicles. As part of a Unit Repair Section attached to the Army Air Corps workshop team we have tight deadlines to work against under pressure to make sure that vehicles are ready to go on exercise or on road movements at any time. We would also provide assistance on the regiment’s training exercises to ensure vehicles were operating to their full potential at all times. As a senior Craftsman I also had help junior colleagues when required to do so. I would have to supervise their work to ensure they were signed off as competent to work alone by following a strict training guide. To do all of this in a timely manner I work well as part of a team and by myself. I am hard working and fully committed always giving 110% to every job that I complete or task that I am required to do. I needed to make my own decisions and be responsible for my own actions.
