Nathan is a recent social work graduate from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. He specializes in mental health and substance use treatment and employs a person-centered, trauma-informed, harm-reduction framework to meet the unique needs of clients in individual and group counseling. As a therapist, Nathan integrates aspects of motivational interviewing, DBT, ACT, CBT, the liberation health model, and psychodynamic theory into his approach. Nathan is passionate about facilitating groups in which members can authentically connect with and offer support to one another. He has led groups of mandated and non-mandated clients, with focuses including substance use, mental health, reentry from prison, connection through music, and self-care. Nathan presented at the International Association for Social Work with Groups symposium in June 2022 about his group work with clients at a shelter in Brooklyn.
