FCSM is an agency that represents clients in professional baseball. Their duties include negotiating free agent contracts, arbitration contracts, draft assistance, and overall assisting the player in any way throughout his professional career. I worked the summer months (June through August) from 2013-2015.• Participated in the arbitration process for Carlos Torres of the New York Mets (2016 season), Adam Warren of the New York Yankees (2016 season) and Phil Coke of the Detroit Tigers (2014 season). • Participated in the free agent process for Phil Coke of the Chicago Cubs (2015 season) and Jerome Williams of the Houston Astros (2014 season). • Constructed scouting reports for Jerome Williams’ tenure with the Philadelphia Phillies during the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Analyzed opposing hitters’ tendencies and formulated a game plan for Williams to follow during his starts. • Analyzed the history of the first round MLB draft with the goal of correlating draft picks and the likelihood of those players achieving salary arbitration and/or free agency in their careers. Investigated high school pitchers versus college pitchers and high school position players versus college position players. Since arbitration and free agency are earned through Major League Service time (MLS), success was determined if a player reached three years of MLS for arbitration and/or six years of MLS for free agency. The study determined that high school and college position players have a similar chance of reaching these platforms while college pitchers have a significant advantage over high school pitchers when reaching arbitration or free agency.
