Explaining what I do can be very complicated as it stretches multiple disciplines and ways of thinking. Yet, it is very easy to describe how I operate: every day I am driven to engage those around me with compassion, act with moral courage, and positively impact those within my sphere of influence. By actively caring about those I engage with, whether stakeholders, teammates, or people asking for my help, I am able to connect disparate activities into opportunities to achieve greater success together. For more than ten years, I have been providing companies with data-driven strategies for product development, content, user experience, and information architecture based on the needs of their customers. At every turn I use visualization to tell the stories within the data and improve how goals are created and then measured. In each role, I have built more efficient, scalable processes. I am currently helping Salesforce manage the risks of Generative AI so customers can leverage it in a trusted manner. If you are interested in data, machine learning, ethics, storytelling, SEO, or academic research don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m more than happy to take some time to chat, maybe I can help you find what you’re driven to do.

The work crossed disciplines, channels, and dimensions to maximize the impact of each activity the organization takes on the website.I also partnered with Tableau researchers. I worked with Tableau's team to investigate explainable AI (XAI) tools, focusing on ways to give all humans (practitioners and non-practitioners) the means to better understand bias within language models. -

Digital Content Strategist, SeoMcdougall Interactive Sep 2014 - Feb 2015Danvers, Ma, UsWhen I arrived at McDougall Interactive, there was very little formal process around SEO and content production. I spent much of my time helping build out processes and documentation to make sure strategies and recommendations delivered to our clients met a baseline built from industry best practices. I managed multiple sites across industries, fine tuning their strategies to work within the different ways people search those topics. I elevated the approach of building out long form, performance content to increase the authority of my client’s sites. I edited multiple types of media, ranging from blogs to ebooks and podcasts, to help promote the personal and professional brand of our largest clients. While I was there I trained 3 interns, taking an approach of breadth before depth so they could understand what aspects of the discipline appealed to them most. From my work training the intern at 435 Digital, I used this time to develop a methodology for teaching SEO by providing basic instructions and examples of expected output. I then gave them free rein to complete the task. This allowed them to explore what might work for them, instead of giving them a rote method and telling them to do my work for me. It required more debriefing and correction for the first few weeks and had the intended effect of getting them up to speed faster. -
Student Manager For WebgroupYale University School Of Medicine Aug 2012 - Aug 2014New Haven, Ct, UsWhile getting my Master’s at Yale Divinity School, I worked as the student manager for the Yale School of Medicine’s web department. I supported my manager by providing clear documentation on different types of sites and instructions on how to implement custom designs. It improved the efficiency of the group and allowed us to take on larger redesign projects during my second year. I continued to provide SEO recommendations to various departments and labs. -
Seo Specialist435 Digital Jan 2012 - Aug 2012Chicago, Il, UsMoving into a corporate subsidiary was an eye-opening experience for me. It provided me the opportunity to see how internal politics drives the business and highlighted the importance of using data to showcase the value of activities, not only for clients but also for internal stakeholders. I spent my time managing client relationships, building out a documented process to improve our team’s efficiency, and researched the then new changes to how Google viewed content on the web. All the while, I pushed for each of my clients to start from a human level and made them answer the question: what would someone search for to find your services? From that starting point I built recommendations for improving their websites and helped them achieve success. In addition to my core responsibilities, I trained the intern in SEO to help them develop their skills to the point they could turn it into a career. I taught them through the promotion of self-guidance and exploration. I didn’t tell the intern how to do everything, instead I opted for laying out the principles of what I was asking and showing the types of outputs I expected. I feel this approach proved a significant reason for them being hired as an FTE shortly after I left the team. -
Project Manager, SeoSeo Design Solutions Jan 2011 - Sep 2011Chicago, Il, UsFrom early on in my career I recognized that adding the right amount of process is the key to scaling efficiently. I did not know how to talk about it in those terms, but I knew that if you had to do the same 10 things every month then documenting it and making sure everyone had the right access to tools was critical. I spent my time at SEO Design Solutions thinking through the best ways to scale the work of three remote developers in India, who had to maintain 750 domains, while managing 6 independent contractors who wrote the content for those sites. It took many iterations to get to a place where the workflow was smooth, and by the time I trained my replacement I had to train two separate people to take over my workload. I was hired as a project manager, and it is also where I learned the fundamentals of link building, internal linking, and the critical importance of great content. I built reports in excel, visualizing rankings in the search results and traffic through keywords in Google Analytics--back when it was possible to do so. I used these visuals when I interfaced with the clients to ensure they understood how our services were benefiting their website. -
