I ‘colour in for a living’ is the tongue-in-cheek answer I usually give when asked. The ‘what’ being coloured has changed over the years. The ‘how’ it gets coloured in is very much dependent on understanding the ‘why’ it needs to be coloured in. To be a little less ambiguous, I am a designer with a fair bit of experience in both print and digital. I would love to think that if you were to ask anyone I have worked with over the last couple decades, they would, at the very least, remember who I am without too much prompting. At best… a smile, a nod and a recommendation that lists some strengths and just a few weaknesses, rounding out with ‘I would love to work with him again’.But seriously, I have had the pleasure to work with fantastically passionate people in a number of industries ranging from fashion (Russh, culture, Miss Vogue), academia (ANU, UQ, UWS), food/wine (Brown Brothers, Devil’s Corner, Donna Hay, Good Food Guide) and corporate (Fitness First, Hoyts, Val Morgan, Telstra, NRMA). Variety really is great at keeping you on your toes.Lots of jobs at the same time? Not a problem. Working with design, accounts, sales, devs, clients? Not a problem. Finding time to have a beer and a laugh? Not a problem.PS. I am balder and greyer than that photo is letting on.
