I sat with a group of R&D scientists and engineers doing fundamental materials research and drive identification of potential product and market applications of new materials under development. This work helped to align further development and testing to support product proof-of-concept.I also leveraged a strong technical expertise, product development experience, and primary and secondary market research in areas of strategic Gore interest to influence portfolio of research projects. Some examples of areas I explored included digital health, neurostimulation, orthopedics, and implantable sensors.

I joined the New Concept Development team as an R&D engineer and project manager. This team was tasked with the broad mission of identifying and developing new product concepts in the medical device space. Our skillset encompassed all aspects of the ideation and early development process including case observations, physician interviews, market research, technology development, product prototyping, IP generation, and feasibility testing.During my time in this role, I helped the team develop and refine our mission, vision, and strategy in order to focus efforts and time on value-added projects. This focus directly lead to investigations resulting in a large number (>20) of patent filings in strategic device and application areas, including 9 of which are granted and I am named an inventor on.I also played a key role in establishing a set of systems and processes for sponsored academic research partnerships, resulting in several funded research efforts at multiple major universities.During my time on the New Concept Development group, Gore implemented the Lean Launchpad process for investigating new opportunity areas, and I quickly because a champion of these methods, including direct participation in 4 cohorts in various areas of Medtech, and mentoring of another 4 cohort teams.

I co-invented a neurothrombectomy device for acute stroke treatment, and was heavily involved in the initial design, development and testing of the device concept leading to approval of an above the line project for full development.I then transitioned to project manager and led the team through the completion of Design Verification activities and initial scoping of the clinical trial.

I build and empowered a world class staff who created and sold unique and approachable beers. Over the years, we successfully shifted in response to industry trends while maintaining our Belgian and German inspired roots.After successfully shepherding the business through a global pandemic, I sold the business in the summer of 2023.
