I work in the Water Utility Division of Premier Magnesia, LLC as Director of Environmental Technology. While earning my Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering while at Vanderbilt University, I collaborated on numerous projects with Premier Magnesia, including field trials and experimentation that explored the use of magnesia for environmental applications, and the development of models used in foulant prevention, nutrient reclamation, and the prediction of magnesium hydroxide dissolution kinetics. I was instrumental in the development and launch of multiple web and mobile applications. Currently, I primarily work with Premier’s Thioguard, MgBalance, and Nutri-Mg++ brands, adding to the Water Utility Group’s extensive expertise in providing chemical and technical solutions to the wastewater and potable water industries.As a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, I gained experience in independent lab work, computational chemical modeling, and field projects involving studies at dozens of municipal water and wastewater treatment plants across the U.S. During this time, I developed processes, chemical additives, mobile apps, and computational tools that are currently solving problems in various municipalities nationwide.In addition to being a seasoned expert in water, wastewater, struvite, and magnesia chemistry, my value as an employee is also rooted in my curiosity, writing skills, passion for creativity, penchant for asking valuable questions, and willingness to approach new problems with an open mind. While I am more than capable of working independently, I also take great joy in working cooperatively, and have found my best work is often performed alongside those with an entirely different perspective than my own. Whether interacting with wastewater samples, nonlinear optimization, or my coworkers, I believe fulfilling work must involve approaching new challenges, challenging old approaches, and building something of which I can be proud.
