At Calvin Crest Conferences I facilitated and led a variety of outdoor activities. I instructed and led guests in rock wall climbing and challenge ropes courses, which involved teaching individuals the necessary steps and processes involved in rock climbing, and utilizing the necessary equipment to enforce safety. I additionally became familiar with the surrounding mountains so that I could lead guests on a mountain biking outing through the Sierra National Forest. I also performed lifeguarding work for both pool and lakeside settings. Other duties involved hosting and leading guests activities, as well as inspecting recreational equipment and maintaining facility grounds.

During the summer of 2020, I was employed in the grounds keeping and maintenance department of Calvin Crest Conferences, to ensure that all facilities and landscape were in proper condition during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. I made necessary organization and repairs to facilities and lumber supply kept on the company grounds. I additionally traversed sections of forest and campus to clean and maintain vegetation overgrowth, buildings that needed improvement/repairs, and living areas. Ultimately this was done to prepare the conference center for future guest use.

Throughout the 2020-2021 academic year, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for California Baptist University's Dean of Engineering. The classes I performed work in included Internship Preparation, Internship Report, and Leadership Cohort, among others. I worked as a technician for Zoom and Blackboard software, preparing class meetings and helping facilitate them. I tracked records of attendance, posted assignments and announcements, and communicated with students regarding any questions or concerns that attendees had. I additionally assisted with explaining course material and grading assignments.

In this position I was able to assist living area residents of California Baptist University with any concerns or needs that may have arisen during their time living on campus. I was additionally put in charge of enforcing campus policy and ensuring that no living area rules or regulations were being broken. I also had the opportunity of creating and organizing on-campus events for students to take part in. This position was unfortunately cut short due to the sudden emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

My internship with Granite involved me performing duties for construction projects in the Central Valley throughout the summer of 2018.One of the main projects of this internship involved a new bridge being place over the 99 freeway in Goshen, California. Work here included organization of public detour routes and taking inventory of bridge support brackets. Equipment and light plants were transported and installed for the construction phrase, as well as for the demolition of an older bridge. Over the course of working on this job, I was able to see the different aspects of bridge installation, by reviewing AutoCAD plans and organizing work schedules.The next project involved preparing a freeway section along the Fresno 99 for the oncoming High Speed Rail. A certain strip of the highway was being removed create space for the oncoming railway. Additionally, a bridge that travelled over the freeway needed to be moved to also accompany the rail system. One of the main duties here involved keeping records of old pavement being removed by an excavator. Many days were spent having to periodically go out and check on the excavator’s work. Stations were marked along the freeway every fifty feet, so that would be recorded every forty minutes to an hour in order to see how quickly the excavator was able to move the pavement out. Additionally, measurements would need to be taken of removed pavement, mainly concrete and HMA. The pavement had multiple layers buried beneath the surface, so it was important to measure the thickness of all the pavement and run these numbers along a consistent average to ensure removal efficiency. Other work on this site involved taking footage of every area being worked on within the grounds of the job each week. Additionally, elevation measurements were performed in order to calculate soil volume to see how much fill the site had available.

Duties at Overhead Technology were primarily based on the inspection, repair, and installation of overhead crane systems and industrial tools. Here I organized and maintained tools and inventory in an industrial shop setting, as well as inspecting company equipment. I additionally would perform inspections and necessary modifications to client's crane and tool equipment to ensure that they were at prime condition. Installations and emergency repairs were also done for clients in order to complete heavy lifting operations.
