Currently I am completing my 18th year in education. After graduating college, I began teaching. I have 6 years’ experience as a Classroom Teacher. I experienced success with students academically. My final three years in the classroom generated 96%, 100%, and 92% of students passing state exams. I was a finalist for Teacher of The Year. My success in the classroom lead to me being a central based Mathematics Coach. I served in this capacity four years. During this time, I created data driven specific professional developments for campuses and PD's used by the district for summer development. Using state standards, I assisted in developing an elementary project-based curriculum that was to follow Dallas's middle school mathematics project-based pilot program. I provided coaching support in the form of PLC facilitation, cycles of observation and feedback, modeling, and mentorship for as many as four campuses each year. All my assigned campuses were low performing and 80% of these campuses moved to acceptable and exemplary by state standards. At the same time, I facilitated the largest amount of schools in district level data digs/PLC's/activity alignment. These coordinated sessions focused on using data to identify common weak areas across common assessment district wide, sharing teaching strategies, and using research based strategies to create common strategies to close gaps across multiple schools in the learning community.The connections I made as a Coach lead me to several Leadership Cohorts and resulted in me becoming an Assistant Principal. I have a total of eight years’ experience as an Assistant Principal (Five years elementary/Three years secondary). I transferred my coaching skills and continued to grow. I have done everything as an Assistant Principal. Wherever I have gone, I brought the same things: Deep content knowledge, research-based strategies, discipline, consistency, stability, relationship/culture building and professional customer service.
