I sit on the club's Board of Directors, making me both the club's youngest ever member in its 73-year history and its youngest ever Non-Executive Director. As a member of the Board, I am involved in strategic planning and management of the club. Given the challenges faced by service clubs worldwide to adapt to 21st century changes, this makes me one of the club's main drivers of a new model that will enable the club to flourish in the modern day as it has in the past. As Director of the New Generations portfolio, I am responsible for overseeing the club's Rotary New Generation programs such as Interact, Rotaract, RYLA and Youth Exchange, as well as getting the younger generation engaged with Rotary.

I was one of the two 'Producers' for the Sandpit's pilot project, which aims to end rough sleeping in inner city Sydney by 2014. The Sandpit, formerly Emerging Leaders for Social Change, is based around a philosophy of cross-sector collaboration; drawing together a network of 600+ individuals from the corporate, government and nonprofit worlds to tackle complex social issues. The Sandpit makes use of innovative processes developed by leading consulting firms to overcome these challenges.As one of the two Producers, I led the project driving team and Sandpit network through the various events and discussions as we worked towards achieving our goal, with support and guidance from the Sandpit Leadership team. This meant planning events, coordinating tasks and bringing in the right people at the right time.

Based at the Counselling and Psychological Services Department at UNSW, my role was to develop the Student Minds @ UNSW pilot project. Student Minds @ UNSW is a novel and innovative student volunteer peer engagement program, being trialed in Australia for the first time and based on my experience in the UK. It is designed to increase mental health awareness, combat stigma and increase early help seeking behaviour - thereby decreasing the incidence of mental illness and psychological distress currently experienced by students and allowing students to flourish in all areas of their lives - present and future.This entailed model design, training implementation, marketing to students and evaluation of its impact. In its first six months we attracted 70+ volunteers, half of which have gone through the training program. 3 successful events were staged, and conversations had with over 350 students across those.

Having been one of Students Against Depression's first bloggers, writing about my own experiences of depression, I went on to take a highly active role in the ongoing development of the site.I became a student mental health advocate and public face on behalf of the project, providing a number of interviews about my experience of depression. During this I spoke out on BBC Radio 4, reaching a huge number of people across the country.Sitting on the steering group entailed working with a number of experienced university mental health professionals to guide the direction of the site, both in terms of its look and functionality, as well as how it was publicised to university students across the country.

Whilst Project Manager for Mental Wealth UK, I was responsible for both supporting and growing the network of student mental health groups across the UK. I led the '25by2012' campaign, run in partnership with key UK mental health organisations such as Action for Happiness, Time to Change and Students against Depression. Through this campaign we achieved wide reach, and grew the number of student mental health groups from 12 to 25 in just three months.I developed resources to better support students with the effective running of their groups, provided mentoring to group leaders and coordinated Mental Wealth UK's annual training/networking event. In this role, I also reported to and advised the Board of Trustees on the developing strategy for Mental Wealth UK, providing a voice for the needs of students to better run groups.

Co-founded the Cardiff Mental Wealth Society as a final year student and developed it in to a multi-award winning student service in just its first year, notably being one of just three student groups across the UK shortlisted for the prestigious NUS 'Best Student Group of the Year' prize. We worked to improve mental wellness on campus through stimulating conversation and reducing stigma, raising awareness, signposting students to services and providing information about mental health. We achieved this through campaigns and events that directly engaged the student community, and raised the profile of mental health.Also built a strong infrastructure for the group, designing an effective strategy which incorporated succession planning, connecting up with key stakeholders within and outside the university and attracting high quality volunteers to lead the group. Through fundraising and grants we raised in excess of £1000 in the first three months, providing us with resources for the rest of the year.Cardiff Mental Wealth was recognised as a much-needed student initiative, providing a valuable service to students. With university providing many psychological challenges to young people, we were able to implement strategies that built psychological resilience. For this reason, we were selected as Cardiff Student Union' first new student-led service for several years.

During my two years as a Student Support Worker, I directly supported a number of students with disabilities that impaired their learning opportunities within the university environment. This included students with sight or hearing difficulties, dyslexia, autism and others.My main responsibilities in supporting students were notetaking, buddy support and library support, thus assisting their academic experience and helping them feel more comfortable within university.

Having been a Nightline volunteer for over 3 years whilst a student, in my final year I was a member of the 8-person executive committee that ran the award-winning Cardiff Nightline service. It is one of the university's most valued and long-standing student services, providing a listening and information phoneline for close to 100,000 students from 8pm to 8am every night of the university year.As part of the exec, I worked with the rest of the team on strategy and operational challenges arising, as well implementing new developments for that academic year. In particular, I was responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the 'Nightline House', from which we operated the service. I also logged the service metrics, and ensured all information given out was up to date.
