My work with this client was primarily in localizing their veterinary automatic peritoneal dialysis machine to the English-speaking market, which included translation and re-design of the device's user interface. I also set up their Facebook page and implemented a push marketing campaign to expose their brand and product to a target audience of veterinarians and vet technicians, particularly those involved with companion animal diseases of the kidneys and pancreas. Represented the company at the 2019 Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas, USA. Assisted in bringing products into regulatory compliance with the FDA and other US government agencies.

As an angel investor, I advised the principals on the process of establishing a USA-national brand, how to conduct competitive analysis, how to develop a marketing and public relations campaign and other entrepreneurial challenges. I also shared with them my experience, from earlier work (see below) on how best to manage relationships with suppliers in Asia. The company was acquired by Belle Capital, Inc. in 2012.

I founded this company to be the US-based brand of FriendTech Computer Co., Ltd. (Taiwan), a manufacturer of PC lifecycle management hardware. The relationship between the two companies was that FriendTech would design and manufacture the products, while PowerLeap would market and distribute them in the USA and Canada. My responsibilities as president of the company were to establish and promote the PowerLeap brand name, set up B2B and B2C sales and distribution channels, design and produce packaging, documentation, and accompanying software for the products, and handle post-sales customer support. The most successful years of operation were 2001 to 2005, during which sales grew to over 3 million dollars annually, and PowerLeap became the leading brand in the CPU upgrade market segment. The company was awarded the Deloitte “Fast 50” Fastest-Growing New Jersey Technology Companies Award for three successive years (2003, 2004, and 2005). In subsequent years the demand for CPU upgrades sharply declined as the performance of new systems caught up with the processing requirements of Windows OS and business applications. In what once was a competitive market of brands (including Intel, Kingston, PNY, Evergreen, and PowerLeap), none remain active in this segment.
