◼️ As Global Head of Information Security, reporting to the Global CIO, I was responsible for establishing from new, information security governance, strategy, policy and standards aligned with business goals and objectives across all Vistra divisions, acquisitions and brands. ◼️ Vistra provides tailored trust, fiduciary, fund and corporate services globally and has 5,000 staff in 70 offices across 50 countries. As a rapidly expanding through acquisition private equity owned company, scalability and pragmatism was critical to any information security strategy success.◼️ Successfully delivered ISO27001 certification across multiple jurisdictions. This provided the company a distinct business advantage in providing trust services to blue chip clients.◼️ Expanded the global information security team in multi jurisdictions - Europe, India, Asia and Americas. ◼️ As a Lead Information Security Consultant for Capita’s cyber security consultancy practice, led on the security aspects of supporting bids for major projects (£10m-£1bn). Client-side roles included - ◼️ Acting as Chief Information Security Officer (12 months) for a large public sector client with 5,500 staff, this involved accelerating the maturity of the underperforming security function. I designed and integrated an updated information security governance framework, led on a complete modernisation of organisational policy, training, board reporting and incident management aligned to ISO27001, PCI DSS, Caldicott and Government Security Policy Framework. Developed the team, undertook skills analysis, and supported individual career growth. ◼️ Acting as Information Security Director (12 months) for a Client covering two business units, achieved ISO27001 certification and Cyber Essentials for both business units. The role faced off to two chief executives for all security aspects of the £100m+, seven-year outsourcing deal.

◼️ Led a global team to deliver security assurance for internal and third-party services across all RBS global divisions and brands covering 90,000 staff and $8bn in outsourcing. This resulted in several high risks being identified, placed under control, and closed out before critical services went live or major suppliers were on boarded.

◼️ Deployed to the £12bn Defence Information Infrastructure (DII), Europe’s largest IT project to put the three-armed services on to one platform, I led a team reducing technical information risk on key aspects of the complex 300,000 user, internationally operated, classified defence infrastructure.

◼️ As the Security Authority for the Government Secure Intranet (GSi), the UK Government Network, led the agency on providing security assurance on all Government Departments connecting to the RESTRICTED & CONFIDENTIAL networks I co-authored the GSi Code of Connection, a UK government wide national security policy. The policy covered over 2.5 million staff.◼️ Established an Aerospace and Defence forum to share threat intelligence. The community of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) were experiencing on-going state sponsored cyber-attack.

◼️ At the NHS Wales (Secondment) I was responsible for managing BS7799 (now ISO27001) compliance across NHS Wales while liaising with other compliance programmes such as Data Protection and Freedom of Information. NHS Wales has 90,000 staff over 5,000 locations.◼️ At Gwent Healthcare, the second largest employer in Wales, I led on all things IT Security, including security operations, security testing, security event monitoring and response, security awareness training to staff and in addition established an all-Wales NHS Information Security Forum. ◼️ I undertook my Masters Degree in Information Security & Computer Crime part time while in this position which provided great insight in to theory and application.
