Nathan Pugh is a writer, journalist, and culture critic. He is gay, biracial, and Filipino American. Pugh’s writing methodology combines critical analysis with creative nonfiction. He explores minoritarian identities in performance, both on and off the stage. You can find this exploration in Pugh’s writing across journalism, essays, and dramatic works.Pugh is currently a freelance writer in the Washington, D.C. area, contributing to Theatrely, DC Theater Arts, Smithsonian magazine, and 3Views on Theater. He is also a copywriter/coordinator for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.Pugh previously contributed writing to DCist, and interned for NPR’s Code Switch and It’s Been a Minute.In 2021, Pugh graduated from Wesleyan University, where he was an English and theater major with a concentration in race/ethnicity. In the spring semester of 2021, Pugh served as Editor-in-Chief of the Wesleyan Argus.
