The goal of the program is to accelerate personal growth, professional development, and leadership identity of high-potential students within the College of Business by using principle-based leadership practices.Following a rigorous application process, Select Leaders begin the process of discovering their leadership potential through leadership curriculum like "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" and self-assessments such as LIFO. We also have the opportunity to participate in 360-degree feedback and coaching sessions. We get to apply what we have learned during engagements with real-world executives by going on networking trips to engage with professionals in other cities. All of this opportunity results in members being able to utilize our leadership skills to serve others through mentoring younger students in the program and leading other student organizations on campus.

As the Director of Philanthropy in the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre, it was my job to oversee the philanthropic efforts for the 600+ member organization. I led a team of over 40 members and organized participation in service opportunities around the community to allow for improved engagement among members of the organizationI loved this role because it gave me an opportunity to grow professionally while still making an impact on the organization and the surrounding community. In my first year in this role my team set the record for community service hours with 496 hours, and over my two year span in the role my team completed over 600 hours of community service. I really enjoyed this role because it gave me the confidence and leadership skills I needed as a freshman.

As a laborer at Trimble brick I really got to develop a strong work ethic and craftsmanship. Working a manual labor job for a summer taught me the power of a team and the importance of good communication and strong leadership. While the company and my team were very small, we were able to complete over 20 masonry masterpieces in just over 3 months.
