As a Wind Tunnel Support Engineer, my responsibility is to oversee all aspects of wind tunnel testing. I am based on site at the wind tunnel, ensuring tests are conducted correctly and that the wind tunnel model instrumentation is reliable. This involves; constant monitoring of each wind tunnel test, investigating unexpected results, and providing effective solutions within strict time restrictions. Additionally, I perform long term data analysis, creating custom scripts to collect and process large data sets. I also work on development of our wind tunnel tools, methods and procedures to increase data accuracy and process optimisation. From my testing experience, I identify areas to improve, propose changes and provide solutions to the team by developing new and advancing existing software.

Roles included designing, testing, and improving the aerodynamics of the race car. I also branched out, expanding my skills into in the manufacturing department which involved carbon fibre layup and assembly of aerocritical components after the design phase had concluded. In my second year with the team, I opted to move out of my comfort zone and enrol in the simulations department. I was responsible for structural certification of components using Finite Element Analysis and worked in a small team researching the possibility of developing a carbon fibre driveshaft which was sadly curtailed due to the pandemic.
