My primary role is examining patent applications for electrical/ICT-related inventions. This involves searching patent databases for similar inventions, evaluating examination reports from overseas patent offices, writing examination reports to applicants explaining why their invention is ineligible for a patent, and granting patents to applicants once their application is acceptable.Some of my other responsibilities and achievements are:• Regularly reviewing other examiners’ work to ensure quality standards are met• Providing training and coaching to new staff• Acting as Team Leader when required• Forecasting fees revenue using SAP BI and Excel to ensure fees are set appropriately• Ongoing development and renewal of training materialThese tasks have required me to use my strong attention to detail, communication skills, and critical thinking abilities.

I uploaded class lists and created accounts for students and teachers using Education Perfect, an online learning platform. This involved using Microsoft Excel, problem solving, and identifying and resolving errors in each upload. This was a temporary role for the start of the school year, when the Uploads Department is particularly busy.

I contributed to the GREEN Grid Project, which aimed to investigate the potential use of smart technology in New Zealand's electricity grid. My research was mainly focused on heat pump usage patterns in New Zealand. This involved analysing usage data on MATLAB, and summarising existing research.
