Structures Manufacturing Engineer I
Supporting production of Terran R primary structures.
Graduate Student Instructor
Supported instructional team and students of ME 360: Modeling, Analysis & Control of Dynamic Systems. Designed and built instructional demonstrations to show frequency response of SDOF mass-spring-damper systems and PID control design.
Manufacturing Engineering Intern
Supported comission of Relativity's first friction stir welders from crate to first weld in company history. Designed and procured friction stir weld tools for panel butt and lap joints. Procured GSE, designed subscale coupons, developed and supported test to baseline stage tank precision clean procedures. Designed and experimentally validated hardware to protect COPVs during stage testing.
Graduate Student Instructor
Supported instructional team and students of ME 360: Modeling, Analysis & Control of Dynamic Systems.
Founder & President
Founded the organization with the goal of creating the premiere makerspace on campus, a place where any student could have access to the joy of making. Grew the club to 300+ participants, obtained $2000+ of tooling and equipment for student use, and currently led 10 person administration team to operate the organization which to date has facilitated dozens of student personal projects.
Manufacturing Engineering Intern
Procured and delivered critical path raceway hardware to Cape site & developed CONOPS and detailed work instructions for integration ahead of Terran 1 Flight 1. Reviewed designs for Terran 1 VCLS payload attachment structure, developed high level build flow. Revised feature fabrication procedures on Terran 1 raceway sub-structures to improve interacting part fitment and minimize metrology verification operations. Wrote MES automation tools in Python to reduce error and ease interface pain points. Developed test campaign with materials team to characterize response of in-house printing alloy to different thermal processing techniques.
Suspension Subsystem Co-Lead
Designed Stewart-platform based test upright to determine wheel load conditions in situ; loads drove FE structure optimization in Altair Hyperworks and informed vehicle dynamics optimization in MSC Adams. Designed and implemented template fixture system to increase manufacturability of multi-bend tube weldments, led to 42% reduction in manufacturing time for rear suspension links. Redesigned upper suspension links, decreased unique part count by 29%. Designed suspension-chassis mounting structures and associated weld fixturing.
Frame Subsystem Lead
Designed powertrain guarding/protection package in Siemens NX, oversaw its manufacturing. Improved frame model robustness with new modeling paradigm in NX. Led research effort to characterize frame structure response to post weld heat treatment (PWHT) procedures, designed experiment to evaluate performance of PWHT procedures in mitigating residual stress and ensuring dimensional accuracy.
General Member
Fabricated weld fixture components, TIG welded suspension links, designed and fabricated CVT air intake prototype.
Prototype Engineering Intern
Fabricated looks-like and works-like prototypes for novel toy concepts, including #945Z Ultimate Go-Kart for 2. Designed and fabricated quality assurance testing fixtures. Collaborated with product development engineers to develop accessories for the Flyer E-Bike line.
